Holy Bouncing Jailbait Batman...

Just got back from the annual Celtic Block Party at Governor Stumpy's in KC. Was a lot of fun. Of course I went to see Tullamore, since as Doz puts it, I'm stalking them. The reality is they are one of my two favorite groups, Brigit's Cross being the other. Flannigan's Right Hook followed them, and though I had never heard these guys before, they were pretty good and I definitely plan on making it to McBrides (South) to see them again sometime soon. The big draw of the night was the Elders, probably the best known and most commercially successful of the KC Celtic Bands. The crowd swelled quite a bit when it was near time for them to perform. They are a high energy group, and play mostly their own original work as opposed to the more traditional songs. They have a large following of teenage girls it would seem, and there are always lots of them up dancing around the stage. While enjoyable to watch, its also making me feel like a dirty old man at times. There were also lots of attractive women that were more of an appropriate age for me to be leering at. Luckily for me, my wife is more amused than upset at this. Overall it was a good time and worth the price of admission for any lover of Celtic Music.
