As I said I really enjoyed the show. Not going to get into the plot or details since I don't want to spoil things for anyone. Even though I had a pretty good idea of where the plot was going early on, the movie still was well paced and had enough suspense and action to keep my attention. Was a fun group of people at the theatre, amazingly there was next to no talking, no cell phones, etc. Much different than my normal movie going experience.
Joss Whedon had a little 5 minute intro talking about the film, which was very nice and very funny. The main gist of it was how truly amazing it was that a television series that didn't even make it one full season had gained enough of a following to be made into a major motion picture.
On a side note I posted to a newsgroup I'm part of that the movie had been awesome. Someone was nice enough to correct me, the movie in fact was ok, good, but not great. I would like to thank him sincerely for clearing that up and letting me know what I think and providing the definitive answer.
I didn't bother to reply, there is little point arguing such things with such people. I'm fine that he has a different OPINION about the movie. I'm not so ok that he feels that his opinion overrides how I personally feel about it.
By the way, the movie WAS AWESOME
