Been almost two months since my last post. Really, nothing has happened/changed in that time so there hasn't been much to say.
However, it almost seems obligatory to come on and make some lame comment about the new year and all. So here it goes.
Another year, kind of. Today is no different then yesterday, another artificial demarktation of time. Not that we don't have a need to register the passage of time, only that it really doesn't mean anything. I could make a bunch of resolutions about what I'm going to do this year, but if I haven't managed to accomplish those things yet, I doubt flipping a page on a calendar will suddenly fill me with the motivation to become a better person.
Still, I understand the need to celebrate. Life can feel like a rut, we plod along, going through the motions without ever stepping back to see where we are and where we are going. Holidays can provide that opportunity. Long ago Holidays were often celebrations of life, survival was often tied to the seasons and the passage of time was very important. Now that most often is not the case, its merely an excuse to stay home from work for a few days. But at least its chance to spend a little more time with friends and family, spend a little time just enjoying being alive, worthy things to celebrate.
Happy New Year all.
